Understanding The Dashboard

The dashboard is your central hub for managing conversations, tracking progress, and accessing all features of The Understanding Engine. This guide will help you navigate the dashboard and understand its key components.

Accessing Your Dashboard

After logging in to The Understanding Engine, you'll automatically be directed to your dashboard. You can also access it at any time by clicking the "Dashboard" link in the main navigation menu or by going directly to your dashboard page.

Dashboard Overview

The dashboard is your command center for managing all your conversations and sessions. It features a clean, two-column layout with all the tools you need to track and manage your communication journey.

Main Dashboard Sections

1. Your Sessions Table

The left side of your dashboard displays all your sessions in an organized table format, showing:

• Session Name - The title of your conversation (or "No name yet" if unnamed)
• Session Code - A unique 6-character code for each session
• Created Date - When the session was started
• Last Updated - Most recent activity in the session
• Actions - Quick access buttons including:
  • Chat - Go directly to the conversation
  • More Actions (⋯) - Opens a dropdown menu with:
    • Rename - Change the session name
    • Copy Code - Copy the session code to clipboard
    • Share - Invite someone to join (requires Basic or Premium)
    • Download Worksheet - Generate offline PDF (requires Basic or Premium)
    • Generate Summary - Create AI-powered session summary
    • Upload Responses - Submit offline worksheet responses
    • Archive - Remove from active sessions
  • Action Items Toggle - Expand to see action items for that session

2. Right Column Features

The right side of your dashboard contains several important sections:

Create a New Session

• Simple form to start a new conversation
• Enter your session topic/name
• Set complexity level (1-10 slider)
• Choose time available (15-60 minutes)
• Select session mode (Solo or Collaborative)
• Sessions can be converted from solo to collaborative later

Sent Invitations

• Track all invitations you've sent to others
• See invitation status (Pending, Accepted, Declined)
• Resend or cancel pending invitations
• Hide completed invitations to declutter

Join an Existing Session

• Enter a 6-character session code
• Join sessions others have shared with you

Premium Voice Features (Premium Tier Only)

• 24/7 Voice Mediation button
• Generate QR codes for instant voice sessions
• Choose from predefined conflict templates
• Requires phone verification

Data Retention Warnings

Free tier users will see a warning banner at the top if sessions are approaching the 30-day deletion limit. The banner provides:

• Number of days until deletion
• Link to upgrade for unlimited retention
• Export reminders for important data

Dashboard Features by Subscription Tier

Different subscription tiers offer varying dashboard capabilities:

Mobile Dashboard

The Understanding Engine dashboard is fully responsive and adapts to mobile devices. When accessing the dashboard on a smartphone or tablet:

• The sidebar collapses into a hamburger menu
• Cards stack vertically for easier scrolling
• Touch-friendly buttons and controls are automatically enabled
• Some complex visualizations may be simplified for better mobile viewing

All core functionality remains available on mobile devices, allowing you to manage your conversations on the go.

Dashboard Notifications

The dashboard displays notifications about important events:

• New Messages - When you receive new messages in a conversation
• Conversation Invites - When someone invites you to join a conversation
• Action Item Reminders - When action items are due or updated
• System Announcements - Updates about the platform or your account

You can manage your notification preferences in Settings > Notifications.

Troubleshooting Dashboard Issues

If you encounter problems with your dashboard:

Dashboard not loading properly

• Refresh your browser page
• Clear your browser cache
• Try a different browser
• Check your internet connection

Missing conversations or data

• Check your filters to ensure content isn't being filtered out
• Verify your account status is active
• Contact support if data appears to be missing

Performance issues

• Close unused browser tabs
• Try reducing dashboard widgets if customized
• Update your browser to the latest version
