Understanding The Dashboard
The dashboard is your central hub for managing conversations, tracking progress, and accessing all features of The Understanding Engine. This guide will help you navigate the dashboard and understand its key components.
Accessing Your Dashboard
After logging in to The Understanding Engine, you'll automatically be directed to your dashboard. You can also access it at any time by clicking the "Dashboard" link in the main navigation menu or by going directly to your dashboard page.
Dashboard Overview
The dashboard is designed to give you a comprehensive view of your conversations and activities on the platform. It's divided into several key sections:
1. Header Navigation
At the top of every page, including the dashboard, you'll find the main navigation header with:
- Logo - Click to return to the dashboard from anywhere on the platform
- Main Navigation Menu - Access key sections like Dashboard, Conversations, Settings, etc.
- Search Bar - Search across your conversations and content
- Notifications Bell - View and manage your notifications
- Profile Menu - Access your profile, settings, and logout option
2. Active Conversations
This section displays your ongoing conversations, showing:
- Conversation title
- Participants
- Last activity timestamp
- Progress indicators
- Quick action buttons (continue, invite, archive)
Conversations are sorted by default with the most recently active at the top. You can filter and sort this list using the controls above the conversation cards.
3. Quick Actions
The Quick Actions section provides buttons for common tasks:
- New Conversation - Start a new conversation
- Invite Partner - Send an invitation to a new conversation partner
- Schedule Session - Plan a future conversation session
- View Templates - Access conversation templates for specific scenarios
4. Progress Summary
This section provides an overview of your activity and progress:
- Active Conversations - Number of ongoing conversations
- Completed Topics - Number of resolved conversation topics
- Action Items - Number of pending and completed action items
- Recent Activity - Timeline of your recent platform activity
The Progress Summary helps you track your engagement and success on the platform over time.
5. Insights Panel
The Insights Panel provides AI-generated observations about your conversations:
- Communication Patterns - Analysis of your communication style
- Topic Trends - Common themes across your conversations
- Progress Highlights - Notable achievements and breakthroughs
- Suggested Resources - Articles, tools, and techniques that might help
These insights become more personalized and valuable as you use the platform more.
6. Sidebar Navigation
The sidebar on the left side of the dashboard provides quick access to:
- Dashboard - Return to the main dashboard view
- Conversations - View all your conversations
- Action Items - Track tasks and commitments from conversations
- Calendar - View scheduled conversation sessions
- Resources - Access helpful articles and tools
- Settings - Manage your account and preferences

You can collapse the sidebar by clicking the arrow icon at the bottom to give more screen space to the main content.
Customizing Your Dashboard
You can personalize your dashboard to suit your preferences:
Layout Options
- Click the "Customize" button in the top-right corner of the dashboard
- Choose between "Card View" or "List View" for conversations
- Select which widgets and sections to display
- Drag and drop sections to rearrange them
- Click "Save Layout" to apply your changes

- Sorting Options - Sort conversations by recent activity, creation date, or alphabetically

All core functionality remains available on mobile devices, allowing you to manage your conversations on the go.
Dashboard Notifications
The dashboard displays notifications about important events:
- New Messages - When you receive new messages in a conversation
- Conversation Invites - When someone invites you to join a conversation
- Action Item Reminders - When action items are due or updated
- System Announcements - Updates about the platform or your account
